Meeting held the 22nd January 1877Opened with singing..Prayer by Sister PeelSingingSister Morrison opened the meeting and said that this was our business meeting and we would attend to that first. The collections were read and the expenditures also.After that Sister Morrison read a letter from the Sisters of Ephraim as requested by Sister Elise snow to take shares of the book that was called: "The Women's of Mor..... The latter said that the Sisters throughout the territory will take shares and each share is 25 #. Manti offered one share and Ephraim also. So the Sisters counseled together and found best to take one share and have dances until we have raised the.....#.It was also moved and seconded that Christiana Jorgesen was appointed as one of the visiting Sisters and it was unanimous.After we were through with the business, several of the Sisters bore their testimony. One thing presses upon her mind as we have began a new year we will try to .......... to every call and duty, there is a short ........where we can be at work, and we are placed on the earth for the purpose to do good. Therefore, let us be faithful, that we not be as the foolish virgins that had no oil in their lamps........ Behold the Bridegroom comes.She made valuable remarks about being united and ......not to talk against one another's feelings; also to learn our children to do the same by prayerful and show a good example in all things. Then she gave place for the Sisters to talk.Sister Madsen said that she felt so pleased to see so many of the Sisters here and hoped that this good attendance will continue in the new year so that we will have meetings that the Sisters can be benefitted by.Most all of the Sisters present bore their testimony, not one rose to speak that had not a good desire to do better in the New Year.Sister Seely and Sister Row from Dusschvally (probably Indianola) were present both felt well and pleased to meet with their Sisters and ..... opportunity they long missed.Sister Rowe brought some very good report from the Lamanites there, that were anxious to hear from the Gospel of Jesus Christ and showed themselves willing to every good thing that were taught to them.All the Sisters went home with cheerful countenance, showing that a good spirit prevailed in our meeting.Meeting was closed after singing and prayer.M. Meeting Held December 1876. Opened with singing: "O Ye Mountains High". Prayer by Sister Peel.

Singing: "Come All the Saints Who Dwell On Earth".

Sister Morrison then rose and opened the meeting in the usual manner and read a letter of Eliza Snow about dressing the dead and said that the garments always must be placed on the body , then the shirt or sh**y and the robe shall be placed on the right shoulder and then for all things.

She wanted to hear how we was going on with the wheat matter. She wanted Sister Morrison to write with return mail how much we have all each gathered and hoped that we was working with success.

Then Sister Morrison addressed the Sisters and said that before she left her home, she called on the Lord, that He may give her so much of the good spirit that would lead and guide her in as much as we would have a good meeting and that the same spirit may bless us; that good principle and the plan of salvation may be l **ted out in such a manner that we all would be benefitted by. For the Spirit of spirit of distruction is always on hand to lead us astray, and he makes himself known where ever a good act will find its way. After she laid out many good principles, she gave room for other to talk, and hope that all the sisters will bear their testimony.

Sister Peel then rose and felt well for the opportunity to be together with the Sisters, for their testimonies and then spoke about some business matter of the Society, with much conversation took up a good part of the time. Sister Simpson and a few others spoke afterwards and the meeting was closed with prayer.

Singing:

Sister Morrison addressed the sisters and felt glad to meet again and bear testimony of the true gospel. She said there was one thing that presses on her mind; it was the principle of Polygamy. She always felt proud to be a wife of a polygamist. The principle is true and holy and we should express to our children and make them understand that it is our honor to be a wife of a good man that has more wives. ......then to marry a man that believes not in the principle. Although there was trouble and strife enough with it, it was the surest way to gain exaltation in the world to come. She also spoke of the great privilege that was given to us to build temples to the Lord and encouraged the Sisters to use all the power and opportunity to help and sustain them to build it.
After this good instruction, she gave pause for the sisters to talk. Sister Fechser gave report from the conference and about Sister Eliza Snow about the articles from here to the Fair.

Then Sister Peel bore her testimony of the Gospel of Jesus Christ, felt well and had a desire to do all the good she can and sustain the poor and keep the commandments of God. Sister Simpson also expressed the privileges to meet with the sisters. She spoke about the "Women's Exponent"; what a good paper it was and said it ought to be read in every house and family. She thought it was about the best literature that a woman could care for and we will never fail to have some good by reading it.

Several of the other sisters spoke in a good spirit. The meeting was dismissed after singing the hymn "Come Let Us Rejoice".

Meeting Held August 11th. Opened with singing "Guide Us O Thou Great Jehova". Prayer by Brother Page. Singing, "O Firming Foundation". Sister Morrison introduced Brother Page to the sisters and was glad for the opportunity of having him in our midst to speak a word of import to us.

Brother Page rose and spoke especially of faith, showed us how to obtain faith, to get all things we need in time. He taught us to keep the commandments of the Lord and to teach our children to do the same by prayer. He introduced us to some of the stories of his life; how he was traveling from settlement to setttlement to bless the sick and the afflicted, what a great comfort it was to him when he could do good; how the Lord blessed him through faith in the Lord. All his remarks were very interesting and instructive. He also encouraged the sisters for the good of our society, and promised to come agian whenever the spirit directed him to do so.

Sister Morrison then said that she feels the great responsibility that rests upon her to lead this society and felt built up by the good instruction of Brother Page and invited him to come again.

Sister Peel, Sister Simpson and Sister Peterson bore faithful testimony to the truth of the Gospel and all went away rejoicing after singing and prayer.

Meeting held the 11th of July 1876. Opened with the singing of "All praise to .......... .... Lord. Prayer by Sister Peel. Sing " O Jesus the Giver". Sister Morrison addressed the sisters. - She felt well and although the meeting with few attended, she hoped that the good spirit will be with us that we would have a good meeting . Her remarks were reflective take of the last century and particularly of the great spirits that made themselves now ....... to the nation....showed all great things were completed in the past. She reflected of the great spirits and the great work that in that past century came forward......the reason of thankfulness for us as a peopleand the corruption of the nation that ...... prophets, hoped that in this century this great work will come to its perfection and our children will praise the glorious work, even ......

She made some remarks about the 4th of July ...how happy the day past and ... pleasure we have to see our raising generations turn out so nice and how they enjuoyed themselves in a good manner. Then she spoke a good deal about the silk worm and prosperity and hoped that we would bring to a success . After that she read some pieces from the "Women's Exponent" showing how good it would be to receive this paper and just ...... Sister to ....... to take the paper .....introducing in their families and to their children. All her remarks were in earnest and expressive language. Sister Madsen, Sister Peel, Sister Simpson and some of the other sisters spoke and bore their faithful testimoy to the gospels and to..... A good spririt prevailed.

Meeting held May 18,1876. Opened with singing "Oh God the Spring of All my Joys". Prayer by Sister Peel. Singing: "Come Dearest Lord". Sister Morrison addressed the Sisters and showed them things going to the fair in Salt Lake City for all the Sisters could see it. It was all well received and it was moved and seconded that the flower bouquet after it was showed at the expedition should be sent to sister Eliza S. Snow to be accepted as a present from the Sisters of the Female Relief Society of Mount Pleasant which was unanimous. Then Sister Morrison rose and felt well and thankful to meet again and brought in remembering the greatnes of the Lord, how he shows himself in everything like it was said in the scripture that when we would see all those things coming to pass, we would .....in which time over life, not only in our town all the territory; we hear with ...... , but after all ...look at all things, the Lord was merciful to us. .. is still some left that will grow up for our good. She said that we gain much reason for thankfullness. Also she made remarks about the .. Lady's Society that were not attended as well as it .... she wants the sisters to remember and uses all their influence upon their children and send them to that meeting and sustain Sis Fechser that was willing to teach them, and it was just all well their duty to go to meeting as it were for the older sisters. Sister Simpson said that she felt well and pleased for all she have seen worked up from our Sisters and felt to sustain the ...Lady Soc. Sister Peel felt well and thankful to meet with the sisters. she said that ever since she joned in this church she felt to sustain everyting ....is good that she felt all the time her life with the Latter day Saints and keep the commandments of the Lord. Sister Morrison addressed the meeting, said she was glad to be with the sisters, said she was not well, also not felt like ...... , but she likes for the sisters to bear their testimony and rejoice to build up one another. We should mouth our feeling and not partake of the spirit that will take power over us, that we should humble ourselves before the Lord and try to overcome that feeling; if we too take this course in practice, our children will learn a good example and will do likewise. She said she felt well in meeting yesterday, that what was said was gone home to the hearts that we should think over this thing that we would gain ......in the eternal world.

Sister Peel felt well to come together the sisters, and said that we live in a curious time that we take of the spirit of Union. She hoped that the sisters will be more united together by taking this course we could accomplish great things.

Sister Simpson was glad to meet once more with the sisters, felt like to rejoice in the opportunity to bear their testimony of the Kingdom of God.

Sister Peterson rose and felt well, said that we have so much reason to rejoice in the privelege to live in these dayd and build the Temple to the Lord and prepare us of the .......of the Son of God... angels in Heaven like ... she hoped that our children will see it, therefore it is our duty to teach them good principal, if not all will come up to their .... some of them will.

she made some remarks that it was our duty to help sustaind the poor.

Meeting held Mai (May) 4th 1876. Opened with singing "We Thank Thee God for tth Prophet" Prayer by Sister C. Peel.

Sister Morrison addressed the sisters and said that we would have two meetings monthly. One a Business meeting and the other a Testimony meeting. She hoped that the sisters that visit would be particular in taking of the notes of the sisters that give something for the poor in their book, that everything will be exact. Then the names were read of them that had paid for the Emigration (fund). Sister Cristene Jensen brought in the report of Sis Tregore; that she was very poor and blind and said that she needed help. Sister Peel made report of the same sister that she was not as poor as she wants to be; said that she was helped along a good deal from the Society, but was not satisfied, but after all she had a desire to help her along. Many of the Danish Sisters spoke in their own language. Sister Morrison appointed sister Peel, Sister Jensen and Sister Monroe to visit Sister Tregore and brought the meeting to a close, singing "Praise the Lord, my Heartfelt Joy". Prayer by M. Prayer by Sister Peeel. Minutes of a former meeting were read and accepted. Also reports of donns and disbursements.

Sister Morrison addressed the meeting at some length and was glad to see so many present annd hopd now that the weather was fine that the sisters would make in convenient to come to meeting, that the house mibht be filled and the Spirit of the lord might fill every bosom to overflowing. She hoped that the sisters belonging to the visiting commiettee would be particularl to keep a correct accounting of donations received by them no matter how small, so that a correct report could be made at the end of the year.. also to remember the coming emigration. There wer some who had donated last meeting, but there were still many more that might do so, that every little would help. That the Lord did not look at the amount given so much as the spirit in which it was given, for He loved a cheerful giver.. That now was the gathering of the dispensation that the servants of the Lord had been called to go to the nations of the earth to gather out the honest in heart and prepare for the second coming of the Mesiah.

Sister Peel spoke in the Danish language and interpreted what had been previously said so that all might be efited. Many of the sisters bore a faithful testimony to the great work of the last days and rejoiced in the privelege affordedthem of hearing the servants of the Lord from time to time.

It was proposed and seconded that our meetings which were held semi-monthly should be continued; one a testimony meeting , the other a business meeting alternately.

Meeting closed with singing and benediction by Sister Peterson.

It was also moved and seconded that Sister Hasler should be appointed Assistant Secretary for the Relief Society which was unanimous.

Sister Morrison talked of the imigration and of the responsibility that rested upon us as Saints of the most High. That we had come up to Zion, received our wishings and ... and new of the blessings accrueing from observance of the ordinances. That it was our duty to use every lawful effort in our power to assist in the gathering of the honest in heart, that they too, might have an opportunity of coming up to Zion to learn the law of the Lord and assist in building up his kingdom that His will might be done on earth as it was done in heaven.

Fifteen of the sisters present donated liberally towards the emigration and a general good feeling was present.

Sister Peel bore her testimony. Sister Simpson said she was desirous to live her religion and walk in humility and do unto others as she would be done unto.. hoped to live to do the will of the Lord and keep His commandments.

Sister c. Peterson said she felt well in the church and kingdom of God, and was desirousto do all the good she could and share her faith by her works. Many of the sisters bore their testimony in the Danish language.

There was a great deal said about the dirty meeting house and two of the sisters were appointed as a d....tion. Sister Peel and Simpson to call upon Bishop to see what arrangemments could be entered into that it might be regularly cleaned and attended to, knowing that the state in which it was now kept was a disgrace to Mt. Pleasant.

It was proposed and seconded that Sister Stena Nelson be admitted as a member of our Sociiety. Vote was unanimous.

Meeting closed with singing "From all That Dwells Beneath the Skies.

Meeing held March 20th, 1876. Opened with singing "Let Zion in her Beauty Shine". Prayer by Sister Simpson. Minutes of former meeting read and accepted, also reports of donations and disbursements.

Sister Peel who had charge of meeting addressed the Sister and bore a faithful testimony to the trut of the Latter Day Work an rejoiced that she had the privilege of being numbered with the Saints of he Most High.

Sister Simpson also corroborated what the former Sister said and hoped the Sisters would be faithful and diligent in the performance of their duties.

Sister Morrison spoke at some length on the principles of the Gospel and the blessing accruing from a strict observance of those principles and hoped that the Sisters would strive to let their light so shine before others that they see their good deeds might go and do likewise.

The Sisters of the Visiting Committeee gave a good repor and all felt desirous to press forward and do right.

Meeting held March 6th 1876. Opened with singing "O Saints Have You Seen On Your Mountain Tops". Prayer by Sister Hemmit (Hemmert). Minutes of former meeting read and accepted, also reports of donations and disbursements.

Sister Morrison was pleased to meet with the Sisters and glad to see so many present, and that all wanted to unite together and take a lively interest in doing good in every possible way.

Also that the mothers would encourage their daughters to attend their meetings with punctuality that the older sisters might feel encouraged in striving to do them good.

Also that the sisters in going round would remember the emigration (fund) as it was the wish of Sister Young that te people should try and make an effort to helpout the poor and the honest in heart, that they might have a chance to show what they coul endure for the Gospel's sake.

Sister Simpson was glad to meet with the sisters and be able to talk of the blessings we receive day to day; we had also great reason for thankfullnes that the servants of the Lord had been sent the everlasting gospel and bring us to the Kingdom, and rejoice in the blessings of the Last Days; prayed that te Lord would help us to be faithful, that by putting all ou mites together it would soon help to bring out the "honest in heart"; that this was th gathering dispensation and i was our duty to help gather them home before the Lrd begins to pour out his vials of wrath upon the nations of the earth.

Sister Christensen felt well and hoped that the Lord would give her strength to go around and do all the good she could; she felt to sustain Sister Morrison and her couselors and all that were placed in authority and prayed that the blessings of the Lord would be upon uis Eteranally.

Sister Hemmert bore her testimon and felt well and liked to come to Sister Meeting and was dsirous to do all the good she could.

Sister Rasmussen also felt well. She had been round visiting and said that the people generally felt well.

Sister Peterson said it was now stormy and bad walking and now was the time to test our faith. She was glad to be here and to e able to do a little every day; that if we do the will of our Fathr as far as we are able, it will amount to a good deal that the Lord had made manifest His will to us and it was our duty to work therin, if our hearts were right before Him, he would enable us to overcome every difficulty.

Sister Sorensen spoke in Danish. Sister Johansen also felt well. Sister Josephson bore her testimony, prayed that the ord would bless us all in asmuch as we wanted to serve in humilty. Sister Lovegreen felt glad to be present and thought the sisters would all enjoy a better spirit by attending the meetings. She hoped the Lord would bless her husband and her children inasmuch as they tried to do His will and keep His commandments.

Sister Frandsen said she felt it her duty to mingle her testimony with the rest of her sisters. She had been round visiting and was well received and the people all felt well and was willing to assist in helping the poor. She said if we could but keep the good spirit, even if we had trials to contend with, the Lord would help and bless us, for He had said He would have a "tried people", and we have no right to expect to be without trials.

Sister Rosenlund felt well and hoped that the people would donate freely to help the poor from the old cuntry. Sister Fitcher (Fescher) was glad to be presen. She rejoiced in the knowledge she had of the Gospel and thanked God for the blessings which were daily bestowed upon us. Sister Nabilla (?) bore her testimony in the Danish language and Sister Jensen hoped the Lord would give her the strength to overcome the weakness of her nature; that we might try to do to others as we would like to be done unto. She knew this was the kindness of God, or she would not have been here; prayed that the Lord would help brother Brigham and give him power over his enemies.

Sister Morrison bore her testimony and said she was glad to see so many present and hoped there was a prospect of Spring, that the sisters would double their diligence and be desirous to do all the good in their power as there was plenty of service for all to be dilegent and perseverant in the fulfillment of every duty of ....them, was also desirous that mothers would be united in their efforts to instruct their daughters by precept and example to walk in the paths of virtue and loveliness and by their.....walk and ....might know them" that mothers would also encourage their daughters to attend thier meeting regularly and .......with useful knowledg..................................................................................

Meeting held February 7, 1876. Opened with singing "We Thank Thee O God For a Prophet". Prayer by Sister Morrison. Minutes of a former meeting were read and accepted. Reports of donations and disbursements were read. Sister Morrison then arose and addressed the sisters and said she was pleased to again be able to meet with them, being prevented from attending the previous meetings on account of sickness, but was truly thankful that the Lord, in his goodness and mercy had been pleased to restore her again to health, so far as to be able to meet with the sisters and unite with them in bearing a faithful testimony. The great work of the Lord in thes last days; desired to be one with the people of God and dwell with the Saints eternally who had obeyed the Gospel because of the love of truth; believing it to be the word of the Lord. To her, had never doubted of its authenticity...............faithful, knowing that the gospel of Jesus Christ was a Savior of life unto life to those who receive it or of condemnation to those who reject it..~ Always felt well when able to respond to any call that was made to help those who were deservedly needy.

And felt a thousand times more happy receiving the blessings of the .......than the praises of the rich. Exhorted the sisters to faithfulness and diligence and hoped there would be found those among them who would willingly come forward to assist those who were not able to continue to go round as teachers.

Sister Peel then bore her testimony of the truth of the gosple and desired to do good and help .......in her power and to sustain those who placed in .......... and give them the benefit of our faith and prayers to teach our children principles of truth and righteousness that they might, by setting them a good example, go and do likewise. Sister Simpson then bore her testimony and felt well; rejoiced in the priviledge she had of coming up to Zion and hoped that the light and knowledge that once being imparted would be continued in as much as we desired and to live our religion. She hoped that if there were any of the children of the sisters that went to the Presbyterian School, that they would take them away and put them into other schools and use every means in our power to keep our children away from outside influences, knowing as we do that those who are not with us are against us. And through associations with our children, perhaps would leave impressions............regret.

Sister Peterson said she was pleased to hear what was said and hoped the sisters wanted to keep their children away from those schools and if we asked the lord to help us in faith, doubting nothing, that He would help us and every difficulty, that it was the same God who is with us that was with Joseph Smith.and he would never forsake them who put their trust in Him.

Sister Cecilia Peterson also bore her testimony and felt glad that she had been able to stand true and faithful to her first covenants. Also Sister Franzen and Sister Strem. The meeting closed with singing " Guide Me Thou O Great Jehovah" and prayer by Sister Peel.

Meeting held January 24, 1876. Meeting opened with singing, "Oh Saints Have You Seen" , etc. Prayer by Sister Peel. Sister Morrison was absent and Sister Peel presided. The minutes of a former meeting were read and accepted. Sister Peel addressed the sisters ~ said that they should help those who deserve help and not those who were idle and who would not exert themselves. Sister Simpson and Bertelsen bore their testimonies and felt well. Sister Simpson said she hoped the Lord would strengthen Sister Morrison. Sister Petersen gave some good instructions ~ thought if we could not understand the United Order, we shouldn't say anything against it. A numbe of the sisters bore their testimonies and a good spirit was among them. Meeting closed with singing, "Do What Is Right". The prayer was given by Sister Fredricksen.

Meeting opened with singing "Happy Is the Man Who Hears", etc. Prayer by Sister Peel. Singing "Glorious Things Are Sung of Zion", etc. Minutes of the last meeting were read and accepted and the reports read. Sister Morrison said she was glad to have an opportunity to meet with the sisters again. Said she hoped the sisters would all try to take an interest in the way in whice they were engaged. If we would set an example of truth and righteousness before our families, they wyould remember it. Precept was good but example is better. She spoke of home industry; the shawls which have been woven and the artificial flowers. Sister Peel bore her testimony. She also spoke on home manufacture. Said if we are self sustaining people, it is time to begin. Sister Simpson bore her testimony ~ thought it was a duty for the sisters to meet together. The sisters had been organized and that they are an organization in the kingdom of God. ~ Said she was very much interested in home industries that the sisters were engaged in, although she had done nothing to assist it. Sister Morrison thought Sister Simpson had done as much or more than any one else and proposed a vote of thanks for her patience and perseverance in the good work. The hymn "Sing to the Great Jehova's Praise" was sung. Sister Jensen gave some good instruction ~ said she hoped the sisters would take an interest in their daughters and instruct them in something useful and instructive, and not use so much foolishness in dressing. Sister Peterson bore her testimony and said she knew the Spirit of the Lord was in our midst. The sisters of the visiting committee gave in their reports. Prayer by Sister Christensen.

Singing "Come, Come Ye Saints, No Toil Nor Labor Fear", etc. The minutes of a former meeting were read and accepted and reports read. Sister Peel addressed the sisters and said she felt well in the Gospel and was very much pleased to see so many of the sisters present ~ thought if the sisters would be united, attend to their prayers and be obedient to those placed over them, everything would go right. Sister Simpson bore her testimony and was glad to see as many together. ~Thought if the sisters would spend a few hours together, they would lose nothing by it, and the Lord would bless them with His Spirit. Sister Petersen said she had no other desire than to do the will of the Lord. ~Thought that if each one would do his part, no fault could be found. The sisters in general bore their testimonies and gave some good instructions. The subject of home industy received a large share of attention. The meeting closed with singing, "One the Mountain Tops Appearing", etc. Prayer given by Sister Peel.

The donations and disbursements were read. Sister Morrison was not present and Sister Peel presided. Said she felt well and had enjoyed herself at conference. She spoke of the United Order and said she thought we could not go around and believe the Lord would give us faith and strength to bear it if those who are placed over us did not do right. It was not our fault, it was our duty to do what we were told to do. The sisters bore their testimonies in general and a good spirit existed among the sisters. Meeting closed with singing "We Are Not Ashamed to Own the Lord". Prayer by Sister Joplin.

Sister Morrison addressed the sisters and she hoped the sisters would show their faith by their works and although we might feel a little oppresed sometimes, God was at the helm and if we would have faith in Him, everything would come out right. The Lord has said He will have a tried people and we can look for nothing but trials

The minutes of the former meeting were read and accepted. The teachers gave in their reports. The sisters in general bore their testimonies and all felt well. Sister Morrison "read" a portion of a sermon delivered by President Young.

Anna Elizabeth Frank was admitted as a member of the society. The meeting closed with singing "How Firm A Foundation, Ye Saints of the Lord". A closing Prayer was given.

Meeting held August 9th, 1975. Meeting opened with singing "Come All That Love the Lord". Prayer by Sister Morrison. Singing, "Come Ye Saints, No Toil Nor Labor Fear". Sister Morrison tendered Sisters her thanks for their efforts and assistance in artificial flower making. She then read from the"Woman's Exponent a letter from Orson Spencer to his children which was very interesting. Requested the Sisters as many as could to subscribe to the Exponent . Sister Madsen explained the the Danish Sisters what had been said. Sister Simpson was glad for the privelege of hearing the Sisters feelings and was thankful for the willingness of the Sisters to assist them.
Sister Jensen spoke of the importance of making artificial flowers. Thought that if the older sisters did not care for them, the young girls did and it was right that they should have beautiful homes when they could make them with their own hands. Sister Tidwell, Strom, Beckstead and several others bore their testimony. The meeting closed with singing, "O, My Father, Thou That Dwellest". Prayer by Sister Madsen

Meeting Held August 23, 1875. Singing "Come Let Us Anew, Our Journey Pursue". Prayer by Sister Peel. Singing, "Oh Saints, Can You See the Dawn's Early Light." The minutes of the last meeting were read and accepted. Sister Morrison addressed the meeting and expressed her joy at meeting again with the sisters, although not many were present for the reason she supposed of the busy times in getting in the harvest. She then read a letter written to Miss E.R.Snow portraying the condition and labors of the Relief Society in Mt. Pleasant. She said she felt to take an interest in everything connected with the Society. Thought that the main cause of the ill feelings which seemed to exist some places was that people thought more about themselves than about others and if they would only remember the golden rule:, "Do unto others as you would be done by", the difficulties would be removed. Sisters Peel and Madsen explained to the danish sisters the remarks by Sister Morrison.
Sister Peterson said that during the many years she had belonged to church, she had never for a moment entertained a doubt of its truth and she could bear a faithful testimony.

Meeting in the Meeting House Jan 29 1875. Opened with singing "How Beauteous Are Their Feet". Prayer by Sister Peel. Sister Morrison addressed the meeting and said it was impossible to accomplish anything without the assistance of God and each other. Thought that to assist the poor in their bodily comforts was less important than to assist them in their spiritual welfare. She made some remarks in regard to home industry, of raising silk (worms), straw hats and working up wool, etc. The following petition was read and subsequently signed by ninety three sisters:

To Our Brethren of Mt. Pleasant City. We the Sisters of the Female Relief Society present before you this memorial. Being much impressed with the propriety of raising up our children in the fear of the Lord, Our God. Those little ones whom God hath consigned to our care as the sons and daughters of Zion and to whom we are accountable that they be instructed in the right way, and that this important duty cannot be consigned to the care or tuition of any teacher of any other communion than that of the True and Living God.

We most earnestly present before you this memorial as a token of our respect fore the teachings of this Holy Priesthood which God has placed upon you, his servants, requesting that you will keep your children away from the schools of any communion outside the CJCLDS (Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints), seeing that we have separated ourselves from the nations of the earth to establish ourselves with the ways of the God of Jacob. We deem this step expedient and pray that you our brethren in the holy priesthood will do your utmost to assist us in this laudable undertaking.

Sister Madsen said she feels to go forward with renewed strength and spoke of the importance of teaching little children to pray. Sister Peel hoped the sisters would all try to set a good example before their children and thought they should be more united in coming to meeting. She had heard many persons say that the servants of the Lord had not so much power now as in former days, but thought it was the people who had not so much faith and confidence in themselves as formerly. Sister Simpson bore her testimony to the truth of the work and said it was her desire to do right in all things. Sister Scovil mad a few remarks. Emily Coates, Clarissa Beckstead, Hilda Dehlin, Ellen Olsen, Elizabeth Fowles, Annie Jensen, Julia Dehlin, Hedvig Hansen, Maria Elizabeth Lovgren, Dorthea Christensen, Annie Rasmussen, Margretta Rasmussen, Christine Larsen, Annie Oman, Carin Johansen, Mary Ann Miller, Mary Hendricksen, Mary Christine Anderson, Cora Christensen were admitted as members of the Society.

Sister Morrison expressed herself with pleasure at having the opportunity afforded us of assembling together to bear our testimonies and to talk of the principles of the gospel, revealed in the last days. Also, she talked a little on the "United Order" and said that the Lord will have a tried people. If we would remember our prayers in private and public, He would give us his spirit to enlighten our minds and give us wisdom, knowledge, and understanding, if we were faithful to the whisperings of the Good Spirit.
Sister Peel also spoke in her own language. Many of the sisters bore a faithful testimony. Sister Peterson read a singular dream she had which certainly was very instructive.
It was porposed, seconded that Sister Synegore (Syndergaard), Johnson, Mina Madsen, Charlotte Jensen were admitted as teachers of the Visiting Committee. Meeting closed with prayer by Sister Peterson.

Sister Morrison remarked that the Society was at a standstill this month. She wishes the sisters who visit the people at their homes to exhort and teach them the necessity of attending meetings. Mother Walker needs a supply of clothing for winter and also reminded us of the good teachings the brethren gave us the last week and hoped that we may put them in practice. All the sisters spoke and felt good.

Sister Simpson felt well and hoped the poor will be supplied. Sister Tregore needs some things; said if we trust in the Lord and do right - not forgetting that our children in the way they should.

Sister Morrison exhorted all to have their trust in God, for He will not forsake his own.

Meeting held at Social Hall September 7th 1874. Opened by singing and prayer by Sister Peel. Minutes of a former meeting were read and accepted; Sister Morrison made edifying remarks concerning the "New Order"; said if we keep cheerful and happy, keep the good spirit, look at the bright side of the question, do the best we can, it will be all right; let us treat everybody kindly. Sister Peel made some remarks in Danish, and also explained what had been said by Sister Morrison. Two days meetings will be held next month, Saturday and Sunday. Sister Morrison thought it would be nifce to have this meeting house clean and some sweet flowers nicely arranged. It would be cheerful and encouraging. Sister Simpson bore her testimony and felt glad she was where she was. Good Instructions were given in the Danish language by Sisters Franson, Jensen, Bourg, Carlson and Johnson. Sister C. Jensen bore her testimony and said she endorsed all that had been said and exhorted us to put into practice what our Presidentess had taught us. Sister Bramstead felt glad that she was permitted to visit the Sisters; all felt well and said, "May God Bless Brother Olser in his endeavours to teach the young to sing. Sister Peterson related a dream which was interesting. It was moved and carried that Matilda Wilcox and Christina M. Madsen were admitted as members in the Female Relief Society. Sister Osler spoke in behalf of the Young Sisters, that they should learn to do nice articles of their own manufacture. The meeting closed by singing and prayer by Sister Peterson.

Minutes of a former meeting were read and accepted. Sister Madsen exhorted the sisters to speak their feelings freely as our Presidentess is not able to attend owing to Business. Sister Jensen made some remarks in Danish touching on the disobedience of the people. Said it will be like the persecution in Nauvoo the way they indulge in tea and coffee and God will scourge us if we don't repent and do better. Sister Peterson felt glad she is one with the rest; hope to continue faithful . God will help them that will do right. When we have a little trouble it will draw us nearer to God. Sister Borg and Tidwell visited the folks in the 1st ward, nearly all felt well. Most all of the Danish sisters spoke in their own language. Sister E. Seely bore her testimony to the truth of the work. She was engaged in hope to go on to the end, always feels glad to visit the saints. Said she believes this U. O. (United Order) is just as right as baptism for the remission of sins. Sister Peel said if this Order is the thing that will seperate the bark from the wood, its alright. Lets be kind to one another, keep good company, do right as far as in power. Sister Simpson made some scattering and edifying remarks and hop to be faithful to the end.

Sister Morrison made a few remarks concerning some questions (that) were asked her about the "U.O.". Whether the Sisters that had not joined should be debarred from any priveleges. She said, "by no means, let everybody be treated with respect. After while we'll have to organize. If we believe President Young being the mouthpiece of God, we will endeavor t do the best we can." Sister Madsen spoke her feelings; that it would be our own advancement if we would unite and manufacture our own clothing. Sister Peel felt well in well doing; said if we can't do good, let us not do evil. Sister Simpson bore her testimony, feels glad to mingle her voice with the rest.

Sister Tidwell and Borg were out visiting and brought in good reports of the 1st Ward. Also, Sisters Monrow and Branstead of the same Ward. Sister Bransted exorted the Sisters to be clean, both in and outside.

Most of the Danish Sisters bore their testimony in their own language. Sisters C. Jensen and Strem visited the 3rd Ward; saaid their were peculiar feelings among the people. Said, "if we would put our trust in God, more, we would get along better. Sister Fetcher felt glad to be at the meeting, to listen to the instructions given and partake of the same spirit. She said we can manufacture a variety of nice things for our own use instead of paying so much means out of the place.

Sister M Rasmussen felt well and said "all should do right. This U.O. is the best thing that ever came along. One thing is to commence a thing and another to carry it out satisfactorily." Sister Olsen felt glad to be present, for shad not been able to come before today because of sickness. She hoped that the people will more united.

Sister Morrison encouraged all to go on and do the best theyycan, teach true principles to the young, attend our meetings and bring your neighbors along.

Opened by singing and prayer by Sister Peel. Minutes of a former meeting were read and accepted. Sister Morrison made a few remarks concerning the "United Order". She said its like a new revelation to us in a way; hoped that we may be all prepared for everything that will come along and also mentioned about this day being the 5th anniversary of the F.R. Society.

Sisters Monroe and Bransted both felt well; Sister Christina Jensen feels to do all the good she can to sustain this work. She feels satisfied that something must come to wake us up and be one for Jesus said if we are not one, we ar none of his. Several of the sisters spoke in Danish. A good spririt prevailed. Sister Seely and Sister Peterson visited the 4th Ward and gave good reports. . . hope to continue faithful so as to be worthy of the blessings from the faithful. sister Peterson and Christison bore their testimony and felt well and feel something must come to unite us. Sister Morrison remarked that the Gospel is good news to them that receive it. Let us remember that our desire was to be saved in the Kingdom of our God. Everything that has been revealed is for our good. For instance, now . Celestial Marriage, baptism for the dead, our journey across the plains that has been a trial for some. This "United Order" is one more thing to purify us; let us trust in God and do the right.

A vote was taken that all present would fast and pray on the first Thursday in the next month that Sister Olsen's little girl should be restored to her health again. Sister Peel explained in the Danish language what had been said and made a few remarks. Sister Winkler and Harsley felt well, hope to remain to the end. Sister Harsley hoped that more united will soon bind us more together. She said let us encourage the Sunday School. . . that will be one step towards it. Sister A. Johnsen gave good reports of the 3rd Ward.

Meeting held in Social Hall, April 6th, 1874. Opened by singing and prayer by Sister Simpson. Minutes of a former meeting were read and approved of.

Sister Morrison expressed her gratitude to all presentfor assembling together with such a good influence. Then she called for the Visiting Teachers to give in their reportts and let us hear how the people feels (sp)

The Teachers accordingly gave favorable reports; few wants among the poor. Sister Tregore is in need of assistance. Brother C. Anderson wished to pay the Dr. 3-50, but not able to do so. The Society agreet to pay it in flower (sp).

Several of the Sisters made a few remarks and expresssd themselves freely. Sister Morrison spoke toothe Mothers to teach their little ones to pray, let

them grow up in the fear of the Lord - pure and holy before Him. For God will in a measure hold us responsible for them. And in regard to the "U.O.",let us be faithful and true to our calling, for God requireth nothing more than we can perform. Also spoke about our meeting house being in such a dirty and filthy condition and grieved to think that a place of worship should be kept in such a way. A vote was called for; that we should clean it. It was responded too.

Sister Morrison wished to hear the sisters speak freely and appreciated the opportunity. Said the Lord will help them that help themselves. Sister Jensen gave her report in Danish. Sister C. Jensen and Sister E. Seely bore their testimony - - - felt glad they were connected with this work. Several of the Danish sisters spoke in their own tongue - - - all felt well.

Sister Christena Christensen thanked the Society in behalf of her father for the garments. He received his on his 77th year of age and is sick.

Sister Morrison made a few remarks concerning the wants of the people. She wants the teachers to have the spirit of their calling, so that they may really know and understand the needs assistance; for as a people we are getting numerous. We must keep up with the times. Sister Peel made a few edifying remarks. Sister S. Peterson bore her testimony - - - felt glad she had a standing in the church. She said God is merciful unto her and her children....said that He helps them that help themselves.

Sister Peel felt well....said it is good for us to meet together in the name of our Father. Said no one has any need to suffer . . . wants that the visiting teachers should see into the wants of the people, poor and aged. Sister Fetcher bore her testimony....felt glad to meet with the sisters. She has been deprived from the meetings through her daughters's sickness.

It was moved and carried that Sisters Ann and Sena Johansen were admitted as members of the Relief Society.

The meeting was closed by singing and prayer by Sister Simpson.

Thanks to Beverly Anderson Olsen, we now can share with you the Minutes of the Female Relief Society of 1874 and beyond. Beverly told us that these were in her mother's things. Her mother was Leota Anderson. The picture of the original South Ward 1923 Sunday School Class also came from Leota and her husband, Lewis.

The Relief Society President was Mary Margaret Forquhar Cruickshank Morrison. Her Counselor was Christiana Folkman Peel. There were several Secretaries during this time period beginning with an E. Wallis. Later, Hilda Dehlin becomes the Secretary.

The meetings back then, were held at Social Hall.

Meeting held in Social Hall February 9th 1874. Opened with singing and prayer by Sister Hemmet.

Sister Morrison exhorted the sisters to be diligent and especially themthat has young girls to try and teach them to be virtuous and wise; said a little amusement is good, too much is dangerous, instill into their minds true principles, let them dress becomingly. The Visiting Committee that went around gave satisfactory reports.

Several of the Danish Sisters bore their testimony in thier own tongue, good spirit prevailed. Sister Morrison made some lengthey (sp) remarks on different subjects to cooperation and polygamy. She hoped the sisters will teach these principles as they visit the houses, but don't cram it as it is were; treat everybody kind. Have the spirit of God with you and that will teach you what to do and say.

Wants that the old and feeble hould be taken care of. It was moved and carried that Sister Poulson's children should have some schooling. Pay Flower. Sister Merrick should have a petticoat and Mother Walker have what we can get for her.

Sisters Peel and Johnson, (Albine) were received as teacher of the Visiting Committee, also Sophia Stanfill as a member of the same.

Sister Tregore wants to have her child, 12 years of age to this place through the assistance of the F.R. Society.

Sister Peel explained to the Danish Sisters what had been said by Sister Morrison. Sister Simpson bore her testimony. She feels thankful for the privelege we have and said we ought to treasure up all the good things we hear from time to time and let us be wise mothers in Israel.
